Our Mission

LoveShackFancy is inspired by the strength of femininity and a vintage-inspired aesthetic that transcends trends. We believe everything can have a second life, and we are endlessly sourcing vintage treasures from our travels to create beautiful pieces we hope will live in the closets of generations to come.  We have always been thoughtful about the way we approach what we do, from our design process to the partners we work with and the materials we use.

Committed to continual investment in improving our environmental and social impact, here are some of the ongoing initiatives we are working on as we strive to make our impact a positive one.

Environment

Although we are a small brand, we know every small change adds up to a bigger difference. We are deeply committed to doing our best and making better choices every day.

REMNANT FABRICS

We never waste fabric, saving scraps to reuse wherever possible for trims or design elements for future limited-edition styles. Since day one, we’ve committed to never wasting our beautiful textiles.

PACKAGING

Biodegradable polybags are used to ship the majority of our products and we are actively looking for ways to do this across all products. Most of our boxes and tapes are made from recycled materials.

COLLATERAL

All of our paper-based materials are printed on recycled paper.

ORGANIC FABRIC

We work with our partners to use vegetable dyes or dyes from natural waste wherever possible, and organic fabrics.

Ethical Conduct

We make clothes and accessories for all individuals to feel beautiful in. Knowing that the styles you wear were made in an ethical and socially responsible way are an important part of that.

To that end, we only work with partners who abide by our Code of Conduct regarding ethical practices, health and safety standards, fair wage and workers rights. To maintain their compliant status, all of our factories undergo periodic monitoring and audits related to our mutual commitment.

We also look for partners that give back to their local communities, actively reduce their carbon footprint, and support women’s career and educational opportunities. For example, one partner in India is primarily female-owned and has started a foundation to fund their employees’ daughters’ educations. Another supports remote working for women who have specialized technical skills but aren’t able to travel for social, familial, or religious reasons.

Craftsmanship

We take pride in knowing that creating good things takes time and that our design and small-scale handmade production processes result in lasting pieces that get even better with wear.

GOOD THINGS TAKE TIME

Every collection is grounded in our love of bespoke techniques and beautiful finishings.  We are known for our hand-painted floral prints, ornate hand-embroidered fabrics, intricate handmade crochet and lace, and elaborate trims.

HANDWORK

We create custom fabrics inspired by techniques used in the 1800s that include buttery distressed mesh with lace embroidered floral appliqués, hand-rolled flower details, and our Battenburg lace. We also create custom dobbies, Swiss dots, jacquards, delicate laces, novelty trims, yarn-dyed florals, and stripes.

CUSTOM FABRICS AND TRIMS

We source and produce our beloved pieces worldwide with an emphasis on artisanal and handcrafted processes that are passed between generations. We engage skilled artisans, and create job opportunities for lost-art traditions. Our elaborate jacquards are created on handlooms. A hand-sewn sequin gown requires hundreds of hours to make. Artists create our signature hand-brushed prints. We utilize old-world hand blocking traditions as well as ombre and garment-dipped techniques using Batik or Shibori dyes.

Giving Back

In addition to supporting endeavors for the arts and our planet, as a female-founded and led brand, we are constantly seeking ways to support women and children meaningfully, and we look to groundbreaking women we respect for inspiration.
