How Romi Basha is Reinventing Vintage One Story at a Time
At LoveShackFancy, we’re endlessly inspired by women who dream in color and create with heart. Romi Basha is one of those women.
From the moment we met her, it felt like finding a kindred spirit—an artist rooted in family, nostalgia, and reinvention. Romi sees beauty in the past and reimagines it through a modern, romantic lens. With her patchworked jackets, embroidered shirting, and storybook trunk shows, she’s built a world that feels both handcrafted and heartfelt.
Creativity runs in her blood. Romi’s grandfather is none other than Aaron Basha, the visionary jeweler behind the beloved baby shoe charms. From fine jewelry to fashion, the DNA remains: joyful storytelling and unexpected charm.
It’s no surprise, then, that on a sun-dappled afternoon at El Rastro, Madrid’s legendary flea market, Romi stumbled upon her first piece: a worn French army jacket stamped Armée Française. At that moment, something clicked. She saw not just a jacket, but a canvas.
By 2016, Romi had launched her Etsy shop. By 2017, she was showing at Bloomingdale’s. And by the end of that same year, her designs caught the attention of icons like Oprah and Gigi Hadid. And in 2018, she partnered with the Robin Hood Foundation, using her craft to uplift her hometown of New York City, a testament to her commitment to community and creativity with impact.
While juggling college life at the University of Florida, Romi built her brand between lectures (we love a side hustle!). After graduating in 2022, she dove headfirst into building her brand of shirting. Her pieces have become wearable heirlooms infused with history and her signature femininity.
In 2023, we were thrilled to welcome Romi Basha Designs into the LoveShackFancy universe through a series of trunk shows across all fourteen of our boutiques. Each one featured her now-iconic patch bar, a playful, personalized experience where clients could co-create special pieces.
To wear a Romi Basha creation is to wear a feeling of joy, history and something made just for you. We’re constantly inspired by the way she threads together color, community, and creativity with every patch and piece.
